What's On

The Heritage Centre

The Heritage Centre, a grade II listed building located in Roe St, at the heart of Macclesfield’s town centre, provides a focus for community and cultural events as well as housing one of Macclesfield’s 3 silk attractions and The Silk Shop.

Find a full list of events at the Heritage Centre here.

Background

Originally a Sunday School, erected by voluntary contributions to provide both a place of worship and an educational establishment. It was here that children employed in the Silk Industry received the only formal education available to them at the time. This educational heritage lives on with Macclesfield Museums Trust providing an innovative Victorian schoolroom experience for today’s generation of schoolchildren.

Music and Film

The building houses a 400 seater auditorium, where the natural acoustics of the galleried hall, equipped with a fully refurbished cathedral organ, attracts a range of musical events reflecting an eclectic mix of styles from chamber music to jazz. The hall is home to the renowned Northern Chamber Orchestra (www.ncorch.co.uk), Macclesfield Music Society (mysite.orange.co.uk/maccmussoc), the Cinemac film theatre showing the latest movies (see www.cinemac.org.uk for listings) and the Silk Screen Film Society (www.silkscreen.org.uk).

Room hire

The first floor houses several meeting rooms accommodating 25 -50 and available for hire for meetings, conferences, training events and private functions.

Catering

The Centre has full in-house catering facilities provided by the renowned Mulberry Tree Café located on the ground floor offering a full range of meals, beverages and snacks at competitive prices. The Mulberry Tree team will also be pleased to cater for meetings held at the centre.
